Why Outsource? - A Success Story
A well-known manufacturer of health and safety devices was having trouble manufacturing components of a high volume product that was experiencing a surge in demand. Meeting that demand was critical to penetrating and capturing a specific market segment that they had targeted. The components were being manufactured in-house and not only was the client's facility capacity constrained, they were also experiencing quality issues.
At our initial meeting, the company advised us that they wished to continue production in-house but needed a contract manufacturing partner to help meet the sudden increase in demand. We agreed to these goals and were invited to review their product specifications. Upon review, however, our manufacturing and engineering team devised a unique way to manufacture and fixture the component that would result in a throughput increase from 1 part per cycle to 9 parts per cycle! We shared our findings with the client and proposed to take on all of their manufacturing needs â which they agreed to on a trial basis.
As we had proposed, CMC was able to maintain lower production costs and higher volumes than our client would have achieved even in conjunction with another contract manufacturer. This client was impressed with our results and eventually moved the entire product line to CMC and re-allocated their own equipment to other products.
